This song was released around a year ago and I have no idea why I waited until now to post it but maybe the fact that Time magazine named it as one of the best 10 songs of 2012 might have something to do with it. On the other hand they listed that Gangnam Style shit as the 2nd best song of the past year so there goes their musical credibility right the hell there.
I'd never heard of The Belle Brigade until they recorded this cover version of Bob Dylan's No Time To Think from his 1978 album Street Legal. Hearing Dylan sing it he sounded like Adam Sandler's old SNL Cajun man character. And that went on for nearly 10 minutes. The Belle Brigade - a talented singing duo from San Francisco stripped out the annoying aspects of Dylan's version (that annoying sax sound that blared in between verses) and focused primarily on the melody which lends the song a flowing harmony that carries through over it's 9 lengthy versus without breaking for a chorus at any point. It's a great song.
Banner Pic of Ashley Greene who was in those Twilight movies and The Belle Brigade was featured on of those movies soundtracks. It was either Ashley or that depressed mopey pale girl and I didn't feel like having her on here all weekend long. You're welcome.

Today's song (actually it's the first song I've posted in three weeks but I was hoping you wouldn't notice) is Thorn In My Side by The Eurythmics. No particular reason why I chose this song today. I just watched the video for the first time since 1998 when I bought this groups best of collection on VHS for 99 cents. Remember VHS? That Format is as dated as this video. Does somebody mind explaining to me why a bunch of Hell's Angels are sitting in a room that looks like it came straight out of a mid 80's Vogue fashion shoot? And what's up with that snooty Hispanic chick? At first she just strands there acting all high and mighty but later she's obviously had a few and now she's one of those annoying girls that wave their arms in the air. She's like the original Sean Young.
I'll bet Thorn In My Side is precisely what Lindsay Lohan's lawyer say about her when she's not around. There we go. I knew there was a reason I posted this song here today.
Banner Pic Of Sherlyn Chopra - the first Bollywood actress to ever pose for playboy. She looks a little bit like Mila Kunis. I'll bet Ashton is telling his assistant to arrange "A meeting" with Sherlyn right now. He'll have to do it quickly - I heard Tom Cruise wants Sherlyn to be his next "wife." Truthfully I don't know which would be worse for her.
I just read that little, crybaby Justin Bieber has a new song out called Maria and that it will be on the radio all goddamn summer long. As if the blazing heat wasn't torturous enough. Anyhow, it reminded me that there already is a song out called Maria by Blondie and it is absolutely fucking fantastic.
How fantastic? I don't even need to write any more. The sooner you listen to this the sooner you can demand radio stations play THIS instead of that Bieber shit and everyone will fucking thank you for it. I promise you.
Play it loud and enjoy:

If you grew up in the 90's you know this song Closer To Free by The Bodeans, the theme song to Party Of Five which was a really good show. Neve Campbell was pretty smoking on it. It also had Jack from Lost and Lacey Chabert who grew up into a really hot babe. I make it sound like that's my only criteria for watching a show but it's not. I love it when a show has emotion, conflict, drama and tears. But granted those things are easier to take if it has hot babes on it. I'm sorry but I don't think a drama starring Kathy Griffin and Chelsea Handler would have the same impact on viewers. People like to see good looking people get crapped on in life. We're weird that way.
The reason why I'm posting this song today is pretty simple. I think this song should now be Katie Holmes' theme song. Cars should blast this song when she's walking down the street. She should get t-shirts made up with that written on them and wear them wherever she goes. She should also get shirts that say 'I escaped from a life living with a crazy nutgoon."
Banner pic of Party Of Five actress Lacey Chabert. I wonder if she's single. She broke my heart many times as I watched her play young Claudia. I understand Lacey is affiliated with a different political party then I am which could cause some tension, but we'd probably bond over our loathing of Lindsay Lohan who she co-starred in Mean Girls with nearly 10 years ago. I'll bet Lacey has some great stories about Lindsay being a catty brat. That's what's great about Lindsay - she can bring any two people together with agreed upon contempt. Partisanship be damned.
Today's song is Edie Brickell's incredible cover of Bob Dylan's A Hard Rain's A Gonna Fall. The song was written for Oliver Stone's Born On The Fourth Of July and Edie even has a cameo performing this song in it. You can see her during the scene where Tom Cruise has reunited with his high school love Edie Sedgwick. That's a lot of Edie's. You don't meet a lot of Edie's these days do you? Well, there's Edie Falco but other then that I can't think of any.
Although Mena Suvari did play a character named Edie during season four on Six Feet Under - which makes this as good as timer as any to post a photo of Mena because that girl has the finest ass in Hollywood.

See?
Today's song is Jean by The Proclaimers - those guys that wrote that 500 Miles song that was big in 1993 due to being in that Johnny Depp movie Benny & Joon. I don't remember if the movie was a hit or not but I remember hearing that song a thousand times that year. Along with I Will Always Love You (Blech!) and that Shoop song.
This song is all loads of awesome because in essence it's about gettin' lucky with some trollup. I'll bet Kanye played the shit out of this thing on his first date with Kim.
Banner Pic Of model Jean Laurice. Do you think she'd let me get lucky with her on a date? Only one way to find out. Call me, girl.
Today`s song is American Music by the Violent Femmes and it`s the only song of theirs I know - except for that Blister In The Sun Song which they used as the theme song for the first two seasons of Two Guys, A Girl And A Pizza Place - well at least it sounded an awful lot like Blister In The Sun. I guess the makers of that show were sued or something because for the next two seasons the song was replaced by generic sitcom guitar crap.
Damn, this song is awesome. The video is pretty good also. It looks like something Jonathan Demme would direct. Hey, why isn`t he making more movies. And why isn`t John Waters or David Lynch? Somebody want to tell me that?
Whenever I post one of these videos I always read the comments on You tube about regarding the song. One of the posters wrote, "I like the part where he sings about the drugs."
Apparently Lindsay Lohan likes this song.
Banner pic of model Selena Lima because she is one of the most gorgeous women I`ve ever seen and I`m pretty sure she likes American music. It all just comes together, doesn't it?
Hitting The Ground by PJ Harvey who I first heard of when I bought the Batman Forever soundtrack in the summer of 1995. Pretty sure she was on the Reality Bites soundtrack too. Yeah, that was a really good movie. They should make a sequel. Reality Bites 20 years later. Everyone should be almost 50 years old now though, wouldn't they? Yeah, I guess that wouldn't work. If I wanted to see old people whine I'd just watch Gordon Ramsay or Teri Hatcher in Desperate Housewives re-runs.
Banner pic: Model Jazzma Crofton - for absolutely no reason whatsoever. Other than she's gorgeous. Deal with it.
The quality is crappy and you need to turn the volume down or you're going to hurt your ears to appreciate today's song. I've never been a Rod Stewart fan. He seemed weird to me. Still does. This is the only song of his that I even remotely liked. The video is your typical mid 80's cheesefest and those are always awesome. This song Love Touch was written for Ivan Reitman's Legal Eagles in 1986. As soon as Rod starts singing in the courtroom you know this is where Steven Bochco got the idea for Cop Rock. Rod sings to a sexy prosecutor type that reminded me of the sexy woman Sheila that was always trying to get Dan into bed on Night Court. Christ, whatever happened to her?
Rod struts his stuff in an outfit that I haven't worn since 1992. He also moves his hips in front of a jury made up of hot women that look like those women from Prince's Batdance video.

I thought they were the hottest things ever at the time but they must be 50 at this point and I'm now the young hot sexy being.
I'll bet they're still way sexier than Tara Reid, though.

*Banner pic of Legal Eagles star Daryl Hannah who used to be hot too.
Today's song is Cold Wind by The Arcade Fire and it's basically the only song of theirs that I like. It's really the only song of theirs that I know. This song was written for the second last episode of Six Feet Under back in 2005. That was a pretty good year because nobody knew who the hell any of the Kardashian's were. Or Sarah Palin. And Lindsay was sort of normal. And Brittany Murphy was still alive. And Ashton Kutcher wasn't being paid $700,000 dollars every week. Wow. 2005 was pretty awesome.
Oh man. I don't remember seeing this video in 1985. I would not have forgotten it, I can promise you that. There is so much awesomeness in this video of Voices Carry by 'Til Tuesday. Let's start with the smarmy Tony Soprano-esque doofus that opens the video and makes fun of Aimee Mann's hair. Also I love the way he attacks her halfway through like it's suddenly turned into a Garth Brooks video. That is some great acting going on here. The end of this video is the best when they're seated inside Carnegie Hall during a show and Aimee just starts singing, causing the snooty old bat in the row in front of them to turn around and shoot Aimee a dirty look. Aimee just steels her gaze and makes a 'Get bent you old bag' face, goes all crazy eyed, stands up and starts singing in front of every body. At that point I'm thinking, Jesus, Courtney Love was making videos in 1985?
Keep in mind that Aimee woman was nominated for an Oscar in 2000. Yup. So all you people that laughed at Rebecca Black's Friday last year - keep that shit in mind.
Banner Pic: Model Tuesday Cross. Because her name is Tuesday. And good Christ, Look at her.
I'm a simple person.
Today's song is Postcard From 1952 by the great Texas band Explosions In The Sky. If you think it looks like that movie Tree of Life well you're not crazy - this video was lensed by the cinematographer of that movie. I've been a fan of this band since I went through all 5 seasons of Friday Night Lights last year. A lot of their music was used in the show. I was a little pissed that I couldn't find the end credits music of that show on any of their albums. What's up with that?
This video is like a mini-movie and it's so much better then seeing somebody like Rihanna slap her pus in her videos. Or whatever the hell it is Nicki Minaj does in her videos. I could never figure that out. I do want to make a confession though: I want to have sex with Nicki Minaj. Here me out: She has great skin, great lips and a decent body. Isn't that a guy's main requirements? Well, If you're John Travolta though I'd imagine your criteria is different. All he wants is a male that's good with his hands and likes to roll around with other men. He should totally join the WWE.
Friday Night Lights star Adrian Palicki in the banner pic.
Since today is the first day of the new month today's song is NEW by No Doubt. I heard this song at the end of that great movie GO in the spring of 1999. Not too many people went to see that movie. Probably because they confused the character Breckin Meyer played with Jamie Kennedy. Also because that stupid movie She's All That was in theaters at the same time and every teen went to see that instead. Listen, if you get the opportunity sit yourself down sometime and watch She's All That and then watch GO and tell me which movie is the most lame and dated. She's All That had Freddie Prinze Jr., Rachel Leigh Cook and Jodi Lyn O' Keefe (who might actually be dead now - I have no idea) while GO had Katie Holmes, Sarah Polley, Taye Diggs, Jane Krakowski, William Fichtener and a bunch of other people that are still relatively employable. And you don't have to listen to that stupid Kiss Me song that was so popular during the first half of '99.
So here you GO. (See what I did there? I'm so awesome.)
*Note: Banner pic of GO star Katie Holmes because believe it or not she actually used to be hot at one point. What f*ckin good times those were.
